Australian University Structural Rankings
Australian Universities are listed below.   Each university here is given a score relating to its structural elements.  These
elements relate directly to the underlying quality of a university.  Specifically:

  • Total academic/research staff - relate to performance and depth and breadth of knowledge
  • Total non-current assets - relate to total resources available for students
  • Student:Staff ratio - relates to the depth of knowledge available to students
  • Specialisation - relates to the breadth of knowledge available to students (the less specialised the better)

Each university has been given a score for each of the above parameters:

  • 0 - Below National Average Performer
  • 1 - Performs at a National Level Only
  • 2 - International Potential

These scores are based on DEST/DEEWR Data 2006 and on the Melbourne Institute Specialisation Study 2007 - the
chart below the structural ranking table shows how the figures are calculated.
